Vdoe Continuing Education Credits for Teachers Virginia

Non-Degree Professional Studies Course Series

Are you teaching on a Provisional Teaching License in a Virginia public school, preK-12, and need to fulfill your Professional Studies course requirements? Or, are you interested in teaching, but would like an alternative to a full-time teacher education program?

The School of Education and Human Development offers individualized advising and flexible online coursework designed to help you meet the Professional Studies course requirements for the alternate route to licensure available in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

These course series, outlined below, meet the Professional Studies course requirements that are required by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) for licensure in the different endorsement areas: Early/Primary and Elementary Education; Middle Education; and Secondary, K-12 and Special Education. Students enrolled in a Professional Studies course series will be given guidance on how to pursue a Virginia teaching license through the alternative licensure path.

Note: Final licensure requirements are determined and approved by the Virginia Department of Education. Please partner with your district HR/licensure expert as you move forward with your next steps.
